No. 3 Official at Department of Justice Is Stepping Down

House intelligence committee votes to make classified Democrat memo public

The New York Times reported that Rachel Brand, who is third in line at the Justice Department behind Jeff Sessions and Rod Rosenstein, announced on Friday afternoon that she would be resigning her post after only nine months to become the global governance director at Walmart.

Brand, the associate attorney general who was confirmed last May, has been a prominent Trump administration official working on the reauthorizing of section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

After just nine months in her role, Brand had grown increasingly uncomfortable with Trump's escalating attacks on the Justice Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which she and other law enforcement professionals feared was beginning to undermine the rule of law, according to sources.

Rosenstein now oversees special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into possible collusion between President Trump's campaign and the Russian government. I want to thank Attorney General Sessions for his leadership over this Department.

Firing Rosenstein would be a colossal move by Trump. That job would now fall to Solicitor General Noel Francisco, in such a scenario. The reason for her departure is unclear, and her exit caught senior Justice Department officials by surprise.

TDP protests against Budget outside Parliament
Senior TDP leader, TG Venkatesh, said discussions would not help anymore and that the Centre needed to fulfill its commitment. On Sunday, Veerraju called the TDP a party of corrupt people, ruling the state after dethroning a great leader (NT Rama Rao).

The possibility of Brand being thrust into the Russian Federation investigation has increased in recent weeks as Rosenstein has come under political attack from Republicans for supporting the renewal of a surveillance warrant on a former Trump campaign adviser.

But the White House denied that there would be any changes made at the Justice Department later that evening.

In the position, she oversaw the department's efforts on civil and civil rights matters as well as the antitrust, tax and environment and natural resources divisions.

A friend close to Brand told CNN she wasn't looking to leave and said she was offered the type of job you "don't turn down" at a fortune 500 company. She had been appointed to serve in the past three presidential administrations.
