YouTube stops ads on controversial vlogger Logan Paul's channel

Logan Paul

YouTube has temporarily suspended ads on all of Paul's channels in response to "Paul's recent pattern of behavior", per a tweet.

The ad suspension comes after Paul posted a video featuring him using a Taser on dead rats, which the group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals called "repulsive" in a statement on Thursday.

Paul who hit the avalanche of backlash last month for his controversial "Japanese Suicide Forest" video, has again become a subject of criticism. "We believe he has exhibited a pattern of behavior in his videos that makes his channel not only unsuitable for advertisers but also potentially damaging to the broader creator community". He'll probably make a PETA video next, telling his followers that he was "dumb" to Taser a dead rat.

As well as that, the site said it did not approve of Paul encouraging young viewers to participate in the Tide Pod Challenge, a unsafe social media trend which involves people filming themselves eating laundry detergent capsules.

Apple: iBoot source code leak does not impact iPhone security
Some iOS source code got leaked at GitHub raising possible security or hacking concerns with devices now in use. In doing so, Apple further confirmed - under the penalty of perjury - the legitimacy of the source code.

YouTube had never been fully transparent about what channels reached the Preferred level, and when advertisers looked into it they found many videos fell short of the "premium" promise.

Now, just a week after his return and a month after the Suicide Forest video, Paul is back to his disgusting antics. In response to the outrage, YouTube cut the influencer from all of its originals projects that were now in development, put an age requirement on his channel, and removed him from its Google's premium advertising program.

YouTube said his actions could "damage" the wider video-making community.

American video-sharing website YouTube on Saturday announced that it will remove ads and downgrade discoverability of channels posting offensive videos. He recently returned with a video raising awareness of suicide and mental illness, and vowed to donate a million dollars to various related charities. Regardless, YouTube's move against Paul is certainly an interesting one, and likely sets precedent for other content creators who rely on shock value to promote their channels. Recent vlogs have shown this, as on February 4, Paul posted a "Castaway" spoof video where he is sporting a beard and saying that he was not disgraced. "No matter how much hate or comments from random strangers I've never even seen or heard of in my life - "Logan, you're trash, you're garbage, rot in hell, die, hang yourself" - it's noise to me". YouTube is now vetting the program more closely and giving advertisers full reports on where ads appear.
