Google Chrome will now block annoying ads

GOOGLE HAS STARTED rolling it out its ad-blocking technology in the Chrome browser. Those two internet giants received 60% of the country's digital advertising dollars in 2017, according to the research firm EMarketer.

A survey of 40,000 USA and European web users found that the most intrusive ads were full-page ads that hide the content of a web page and flashing animated ads, according to Google.

So for publishers who run ads on their websites, this shouldn't stop them from doing that; it will serve more like a quality check, ensuring that all ads running on websites must comply with the rules.

The move stems from the Coalition for Better Ads (CBA), whose members include major marketers, Google, Facebook and major news publishers.

But, citing anonymous sources, The Wall Street Journal reports that multiple people and groups involved are skeptical of Google's intentions because it allegedly dominated much of the process. In a blog post on Wednesday, Google gave a clearer picture of what to expect and how the Better Ads Standards determine when an ad becomes disruptive.

Other types of ads that may be blocked are pop-ups that won't go away or can't be closed, and ads on sites that have an ad density over 30 percent, The Guardian reported.

"The advertisers aren't really suffering".

Army foils infiltration bid along LoC in Poonch
The UN military observers should take action and control the barbaric activities of Indian forces along the LoC, he said. Pakistan Foreign Office claimed there were 335 ceasefire violations from the Indian side since January 2018.

Rival firm Adblock Plus has analysed how effective a CBA ad-detection tool can be, in terms of its ability to block ads described in a CBA white paper published a year ago.

Here's more on the ad blocker.

"From disruptive ad formats to concerns around data transparency, an increasing number of people have expressed frustration with the online ad experience", he said.

"Google subscribed to the standard of the coalition, as has PageFair".

What are your thoughts on the ad-blocking Chrome browser? If you install something like Adblock Plus, you won't see Google's subtle but highly profitable text ads, just like you won't see the obnoxious full-screen animated ads from other networks. He compares it to creating a "drawbridge" between the publisher and the publisher's visitor.

Users browsing on Chrome will receive a message stating that ad-blocking has taken place with them having the option to disable it by clicking "allow ads on this site".

Google has had enough of those "annoying" advertisements.
