Nun "Collapsed And Died" During Exhausting Court Battle With Katy Perry

The Nun Involved In 3 Year Legal Battle With Katy Perry Has Died Aged 89

But the Archdiocese argued the nuns did not have the right to sell the property, which includes 30,000 square feet of living space, a pool, a tower and an adjoining prayer house, and instead approved a sale to Perry, despite the fact that Hollister was already living there. The Los Angeles County medical examiner and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles did not respond to queries about the cause of death.

All media reports suggest she collapsed at some point while at court on Friday afternoon, and was pronounced dead a few minutes later. The legal battle were and still are for the rights over a former convent in Los Angeles and also included local restaurateur and aspiring developer Dana Hollister.

The Sisters of the Most Holy and Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary have owned the property for more than 40 years, but they have not lived in the convent for several years. Holzman later added, "And to Katy Perry, please stop".

A judge voided Hollister's sale past year, saying the archdiocese had the right to sell the property, not the nuns.

Sister Catherine previously spoke out against selling the property to the "Roar" hitmaker, insisting that Katy was the wrong person to maintain the convent's legacy.

Saudi crown prince greeted in Britain with pomp, protests
The Crown Prince is holding further talks with the PM at Chequers on Thursday, including a private dinner with Mrs May at her official country residence.

The legal battle, which has spanned three years now, began when Perry put in an offer to purchase the convent as she wanted to transform it into a home and rehearsal studio. "It's not doing anyone any good except hurting a lot of people", Holzman had earlier told KTTV as she entered the courthouse with Sister Rita Callanan.

The nuns fear that because Perry's $14.5 million offer was made to the archdiocese - without the nuns being involved - they would never receive any money from the sale, Billboard reported in 2015.

Another of the nun's concerns is with the singer herself. "It would be a sin to sell to her".

Just before her death, Holzman gave an interview to Fox 7, in which she said, "We asked [Hollister] to save us, to buy the property".
