Spieth out in front at Masters

Tiger Woods watches his drive on the first hole during a practice round Wednesday for the Masters. It has been 13 years since Woods last won the event

Don't get carted off in an ambulance.

Finau was fit to make to make his Masters debut despite dislocating an ankle after tumbling in exuberant celebration of a hole-in-one during Wednesday's par three competition.

From elation to horror, in a split second.

It was the start of what was supposed to be a grand week, a victory lap around Augusta National.

After all, this is a 28-year-old who learned the game from his father, Kelepi, whose only knowledge came from what he'd read in Jack Nicklaus' book, "Golf My Way". She was only 47. "I don't know, you know, it's one of those things".

"You know, whether it's tomorrow or it's Saturday or Sunday, I'll always have demons out here", said Spieth. "To lose somebody that close to you, and the manner that she did, that was really, really tough". "By the end of the week, this will be a pretty packed leaderboard the way the golf course is set up".

In what is Tiger Woods' first Masters since 2015, he is seeing a young and accomplished crop of golfers that he must catch.

Wesley Bryan, Austin Cook, Ted Potter Jr. were the first group to tee off when play began.

But it was an inspiring performance by Finau that had the golf world buzzing. That brings the classy quintet on -2 into it but historically, the plethora of world-class players further back have too much to do, even if some of their odds are very tempting. "But also the fact that I got myself back in this tournament, and I could have easily let it slip away".

"It was a great shot there, unfortunately people ran out and it clipped them", Woods said. He somehow finished the last two holes.

Former South Korean President Park found guilty
Park, 66, maintains that she's a victim and has been refusing to attend court sessions since October. Aside from the 24 years sentence, the court also fined the former President the sum of $17 million.

He hit his second shot into the water, and then had his next four shots with a wedge roll back into the water. "I just wasn't quite sharp". Anything short will come back. His ability to play was simply a matter of pain tolerance.

Woods said was moved by the support he received from fans and said he was proud of salvaging a round that at times looked like it was going to go off the rails. "I just didn't want to drop it to four (over)".

Finau showed up an hour and 20 minutes before his tee time, with a pronounced limp and a thick white wrap above his low-top Nike shoes.

At times, it seemed as if everyone on the course felt as deflated as him.

So he made a few adjustments. "Otherwise it's just short right of the green, an easy up and down from there, where I was trying to leave it". Even as he worked his way through the bag, he never swung up fully onto his right toes, opting to remain nearly flatfooted. The ball rolled back into wetness.

"I think quick starts are important in any event. He's worked his whole life to get to this spot". Last year, it was 10th-hardest. Before teeing off, he patted Stuart Love, his physiotherapist, on the shoulder. "He said, 'You did on 1" - yeah, from about 150 feet.

And then something weird happened. He sought treatment, and then perhaps the best therapy was being among players as an assistant captain at the Presidents Cup. There was Phil Mickelson's birdie-and-bogey roller-coaster ride. Relying on tips from Billy Casper and Johnny Miller, he added birdies on Nos.

McIlroy shot a 3-under 69, breaking 70 in the first round at Augusta National for the first time since 2011.

Spieth says his putting stroke and iron play are approaching the levels that have also won him U.S. Open and British Open titles.

"Not anyone is really getting away", McIlroy said.
