Seahawks reportedly postpone Kaepernick workout over kneeling protest uncertainty

Kaepernick won't stop kneeling?

Colin Kaepernick was supposed to meet with the Seahawks this week, but the team made a decision to hold off on the visit after the quarterback would not promise to stop kneeling during the national anthem, ESPN reported, citing unidentified sources.

According to Schefter, the Seahawks backed away when Kaepernick would not promise to stop kneeling in protest during national anthem demonstrations before games next season.

Former 49ers safety Eric Reid also recently revealed that he was asked by the Bengals to stop kneeling during the anthem.

The Seattle Seahawks don't now have a backup quarterback on their roster. It has been reported that the NFL is crafting a new national anthem policy that likely would be implemented for the 2018 season.

The Seahawks were one of the teams Kaepernick met with as a free agent last offseason, but NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported contract talks broke down because the two sides couldn't agree on financial terms.

Last we heard of the fight was in October 2017, when Apple was ordered to pay $439.7 million , a ruling the company then appealed. Reports claim that the legal battle between Apple includes many legal suits and a myriad number of appeals.

Kaepernick has been out of a job since the end of the 2016 season, with no team picking him up after the quarterback parted ways with the San Francisco 49ers.

In 69 games (58 starts), all with the San Francisco 49ers, Kaepernick was 28-30 and had thrown for 12,271 yards, completing 59% of his passes and tossing 72 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.

Many people have pointed out that the National Basketball Association, which embraces activism by its players and coaches to a much greater extent than the NFL does, is experiencing soaring ratings and popularity. He did meet with the Seahawks a year ago.

Head coaches John Harbaugh of the Ravens and the team's general manager, Ozzie Newsome, are also on the request list from Kaepernick's attorneys. Therefore, he's still a free agent.

"The question of how he will handle the anthem this year came up and caused that visit, at the very least, to be postponed, and possibly canceled, depending on how you look at it", Schefter said on "NFL Live" Thursday afternoon. The team reportedly brought Kaepernick in for a visit in May 2017, though did not sign him. "We chose to kneel because it's a respectful gesture", Reid wrote.
