Donald Trump urged to avoid controversial Supreme Court pick

Report Sen. Mike Lee no longer in serious consideration for the Supreme Court opening

While the U.S. Senate once required a 60-vote supermajority to overcome blocking tactics against Supreme Court nominees, the Republican majority changed the rules past year during the debate on Justice Neil Gorsuch.

The only problem is, he hasn't announced his nominee yet. On Sunday there was no indication that he had yet made his decision, as speculation continued to swirl around the appointment. A more conservative justice could move the court to the right, potentially for decades, and could potentially vote with the majority to overturn Roe v. Wade. The US President interviewed seven candidates from his master list of 25 judges, the White House said.

Republican Sens. Lindsey Graham of SC and Roy Blunt of Missouri said Sunday that they believe any of the top four contenders could get confirmed by the GOP-majority Senate. "Nobody really knows", he said.

"We're going to do it at 9 pm in the White House", he said.

Leading Republican US senators also toured Sunday TV studios predicting that their party would stand united over the confirmation process, and warning Democratic senators from conservative "red" states won by Trump in 2016 that if they opposed the nomination they would have to answer to voters at the midterm elections in November.

The South Carolina senator said Democrats from red states will have a hard time opposing any of those judges. He's also had a hand in Trump's picks for lower courts; the president has gotten a whopping 21 circuit court judges confirmed since taking office and almost all were outsourced to The Federalist Society to fill. He's reportedly down to four possible picks, all of whom are Federalist Society members: Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett, Raymond Kethledge and Thomas Hardiman. "It's important to have people who are extremely well known and have distinguished records". He was confirmed by the Senate 52-44.

England end their penalty curse, beat Colombia in petulant game
Barring one, Colombia has never reached the quarter-finals. "I think it does help that Davinson plays with him at Spurs". However, Sanchez said it would be foolish for Colombia to focus too much on the Tottenham man.

Kavanaugh, 53, was picked by former President George W. Bush to serve on the influential Washington-based appeals court in 2003.

Savoring the suspense, Trump has sought to keep people guessing in the final hours, hoping to replicate his successful announcement of Justice Neil Gorsuch a year ago.

Democrats and pro-abortion groups stepped up their rhetoric on Sunday over the danger of Trump's second pick.

Blumenthal told Stephanopoulos on "This Week" that the public supports abortion rights.

He crafted Trump's short list of potential Supreme Court nominees.
