Trump 'Very Happy' with North Korea Nuclear Weapons Talks

Think tank 38 North claimed in a new statement that satellite images out of North Korea show that the nation has begun dismantling parts of the Sohae Satellite Launching Station, a site used in the testing of ballistic missiles.

A satellite image released by 38 North on Monday showing the partial dismantling at the Sohae launch site in North Korea.

Trump met North Korea's leader in Singapore in June.

After two days of images show growing activity at the site, 38 North notes that "fewer vehicles are present and the test stand superstructure has been completely dismantled, leaving only the base, which is also in the process of being removed".

Those reports indicate that North Korea's only official nuclear enrichment site at Yongbyon is being upgraded, and that the country was stepping up enrichment at other secret sites.

As the facilities are believed to be important parts of the regime's ICBM program, 38 North says such efforts are a significant step by North Korea.

Town said that while dismantlement was "absolutely" reversible and "clearly isn't going to affect North Korea's core capabilities", it had implications for the negotiating process with the USA, which had hit a wall in recent weeks. The North Korean government has made a number of such unilateral moves since the start of the year, including the apparent destruction of the Punggye-ri nuclear test site in March.

"A Rocket has not been launched by North Korea in 9 months", Trump wrote in a morning tweet.

South Korea's official stance has been to support sanctions on the North until the country gives up its nuclear weapons, but from time to time officials have expressed a hope to seek exemptions, especially to work out the cross-border projects that South Korean President Moon Jae-in agreed to with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during their first summit on April 27. The launch in February 2016 was particularly contentious because Pyongyang had conducted a nuclear test just a month earlier.

The North suspended long-range missile tests and blew up its main nuclear testing site as goodwill gestures. But the Fake News is saying, without ever asking me (always anonymous sources), that I am angry because it is not going fast enough.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Friday that he and President Trump remain "upbeat about the prospects of denuclearization of North Korea" and that "progress is happening".

North Korea has been calling for the U.S.to engage in making a declaration to end the 1950-53 Korean War that ended in an armistice, as a means to protect its regime through the removal of threats and hostilities.

"The rail-mounted environmental shelter-which had not been moved since December 2017-has been razed and removed, the older fuel/oxidizer bunkers are in the process of being razed, and portions of the test stand's upper steel framework have been dismantled and its panelling removed", it said. "This distinction has derailed diplomacy in the past", she said.

On Monday, the U.S. State, Treasury and Homeland Security departments said, "The global community can not let up on pressure" until North Korea ends its nuclear weapons program.
