Palestinian Envoy: Trump Admin Gave Us One Month to Dismantle Washington Mission

US National Security Adviser John Bolton speaks at a press conference in Jerusalem

Palestinian officials on Monday vowed not to bend to what they called the Trump administrations "bullying tactics" after being informed that their office in Washington would be shut down.

Meanwhile, National Security Adviser John Bolton discussed the USA refusal to recognize the ICC, which the Palestinians are trying to get to prosecute Israel for war crimes.

A week earlier, the administration slashed bilateral US aid for projects in the West Bank and Gaza.

The U.S. has announced it is ending its decades of funding for the United Nations agency that helps Palestinian refugees, slashing bilateral U.S. aid for projects in the West Bank and Gaza and cutting funding to hospitals in Jerusalem that serve Palestinians. Jordan, a USA ally, said the decision would only fuel radicalism and harm prospects for Middle East peace.

"The U.S. took the correct decision", Netanyahu said in a statement.

"The United States made the right decision to close the PLO offices", Netanyahu said.

In response to the mission closure, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesperson for P.A. leader Mahmoud Abbas, said the core issues of Jerusalem and the right for Palestinians to live inside Israel as alleged former refugees "are more important than the relationship with the United States".

Trump has promised to pursue the "ultimate deal" between the Palestinians and Israel.

The West Bank's leading pollster found a small group of Palestinians willing to give President Donald Trump's approach to Middle East peacemaking a chance. "They are no longer partners in the peace process", Erekat said.

He accused US officials of giving the Israeli government to press ahead with the demolition of Al-Kahn Al-Ahmar community in order to expand settlement projects east of Jerusalem.

Over the weekend, it announced it would cut $25 million in assistance for hospitals in east Jerusalem that provide critical care to Palestinian patients.

"The complaint stressed the importance of preventing Israel from demolishing and forcibly displacing the residents of Khan al-Ahmar."

The State Department said the US step - the latest in a series targeting the Palestinians - came after a review of the office of the Palestine Liberation Organization centred on the fact that no "direct and meaningful negotiations with Israel" are underway despite previous warnings.

The decision to close the PLO office "is part of the open war waged by the United States administration and its Zionist team against our Palestinian people, their cause and just and legitimate rights", it said.

Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign promised to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to contested Jerusalem.

Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) called the measure a "New Year's gift" to Israel and the Jewish people.
