Warren defends decision to release DNA test

Actor James Woods attends the 2017 Writers Guild Awards L.A. Ceremony at The Beverly Hilton Hotel

In her fixation on claiming a Native American identity, Warren inadvertently exposed that the backbone of identity politics is based on the very same "one-drop of black blood rule" that once served as the foundation for slavery and segregation.

A 1997 Fordham Law Review article identified the Democrat as Harvard Law's "first woman of color".

An ancestor six generations removed would make Warren 1/64th Native American while an ancestor as much as 10 generations removed would render the Massachusetts Democrat only 1/1024th Native American, according to Blaine Bettinger, a genealogist and author who specializes in DNA evidence.

Even the Cherokee Nation broke her claims with the following statement: "A DNA test is useless to determine tribal citizenship. What do we make of the political calculation of Elizabeth Warren releasing these DNA test results 20 days away from the midterms?"

But not always - for a good time, watch the video of white supremacist Craig Cobb getting DNA test results that show him as 14 per cent sub-Saharan African. If this was Warren's attempt to stop Trump's schoolyard taunts (as if) and tip opinion in her favor, it was a spectacular failure.

One 2014 study found that, on average, European Americans tested for 0.18 per cent Native American ancestry.

Debbie "White Dove" Porreco, a Pocahontas descendant, told Fox News that she and other Native Americans felt "betrayed".

Though Warren consulted an expert geneticist, there simply isn't enough Native American genetic data to draw from to conclusively show a person as descendent from a specific tribe.

"Elizabeth Warren, where the hell have you been?" writes Simon Moya-Smith, a witty Oglala Lakota and Chicano journalist.

Warren said she never claimed to be part of the Cherokee tribe but rather wanted to corroborate her longtime claims of having Native American heritage.

Democrats Question Plan For New FBI Headquarters Near Trump's DC Hotel
Immigration is the "most important" 2018 midterm issue for Republican voters, according to a national survey released on Thursday. Edgar Hoover FBI building to private developers as a "direction from the White House" and as "the project the president wants".

"Argue the substance all you want, but why 22 days before a crucial election where we MUST win house and senate to save America, why did @SenWarren have to do her announcement now?"

Tsosie says that Native American tribes possess sovereign status that hinges on their right to dictate who can enroll in a tribe and who cannot.

While she can point to no specific ancestor or tribe, according to genetic test results released by Warren to the Boston Globe, the MA senator did in fact have a Native American ancestor. between 6 and 10 generations back.

"She needs to. apologize to everybody for what she has done", Porreco said. While at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, she put herself on the "Minority Law Teacher" list as a Native American in the directory of the Association of American Law Schools. A Harvard Law spokesman also cited that factoid when the school came under fire for lacking diversity.

The test-run of this spectacle was already made during the previous presidency, when Trump repeatedly insisted that Barack Obama was born, not in Hawaii but Kenya.

In the end, Warren would fare better by simply embracing her US citizenship.

Warren released a sleek, nominating convention-style biographical video Monday, complete with her holding a beer and showing her in her native Oklahoma with her older brothers.

Bustamante's full report is now posted on Warren's website, along with other supporting documents and interviews detailing her background.

Throughout my childhood, I witnessed many incidences of racism - whether they were directed at me, my sister, or my father.

We'll see. Although his answer made me wonder whether he knows how genetic testing is conducted, I take it as a sign that we can expect this little feud to continue.
