Cricket Australia refuses to soften the band on Smith, Warner, and Bancroft

Cricket Australia reviews'confronting according to board member Mark Taylor

THE Australian Cricketers Association (ACA) has responded to the damning cultural reviews released by Cricket Australia (CA) on Monday, imploring the governing body to show leniency towards Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft.

The Australian Cricketers' Association will address the media in response to the Cricket Australia culture review later today.

Cricket Australia stands by their original verdict of imposing bans on David Warner and Steve Smith for one year and on Cameron Bancroft for nine months.

Former Australia head coach Darren Lehmann has revealed he remains emotionally damaged by the South Africa ball-tampering scandal and continues to have counselling more than seven months after his teary resignation in March. "We believe this is hugely significant".

With this new information common sense, common decency, basic fairness, proportionality and natural justice demand that the punishment is reduced.

Calls for Steve Smith to return early have thrown an extra spanner in the works as Cricket Australia fights through an ugly culture storm. There's no doubt that the ball-tampering incident in South Africa was extremely regrettable and caused distress across our country.

"The game of cricket has got to go forward".

"They'll earn a lot more respect that way than if the ban gets shortened - because, realistically, if the bans get shortened it's like the review said -it's a win-at-all costs mentality".

However, under CA's ban, the three men also can not play first-class cricket for their states in the meantime.

Smith, Bancroft and fellow conspirator David Warner initially thought the fuss would blow over quickly.

Putin invited to visit Washington next year, US official says
Bolton confirmed the invitation had been extended while speaking to reporters Friday in the former Soviet state of Georgia. The U.S. has accused Russian Federation of violating the treaty first, by developing a new cruise missile.

Dyer said this "new evidence" should have an impact on the trio's bans and, given the sanctions were handed down without knowledge of the wider picture, they should be recalibrated.

"Australian cricket has lost its balance. and has stumbled badly".

He likened cricket's relentless pursuit of victory to the Australian banking sector's drive for excessive profits, which has led to revelations that dead people were charged for services that were never provided. We've got to make Australians proud.

"Players feel they are treated as commodities".

CA's Pat Howard and Ian Roy completed a formal investigation into the sandpaper saga in two days.

Bancroft infamously hid the sandpaper down his pants when television cameras caught him scuffing the surface of the ball, and then captain Steve Smith's evasive answers at a press conference dragged his team further into the mire.

When asked about the possibility of legal action, Nicholson replied "we just need to get through the first stage".

Despite only weeks ago saying goodbye after 17 years in the top job, James Sutherland escaped on Tuesday with barely a mention on a day when it was decreed he had overseen a poisonous culture.

The ACA has made it clear its campaign is not being driven by the players.
