Mexico border WAR: '1,000 migrants rush vehicles' after violent clashes

Hundreds of Central American migrants who tried to force through a Mexican police blockade into the United States retreated to a nearby camp Monday after USA border agents pushed them back with tear gas and rubber bullets.

In an interview Monday with CNN, the chief Border Patrol agent for the San Diego sector challenged the network's characterization of the surge on the border by migrants Sunday as a "peaceful protest" of women and children gone awry, noting the vast majority of arrests were of adult males who did not qualify for asylum.

San Diego Sector agents patrolling east of the San Ysidro Port of Entry on November 23 responded to a call about a woman attempting to climb over the global boundary with two young children.

We will close the Border permanently if need be.

Across the border, migrants can be seen running near a pedestrian bridge in Tijuana. In total, more than 5,000 immigrants have been staying inside and nearby a sport complex in Tijuana, hoping to be allowed to enter the U.S.

After illegal migrants stormed the southern border at San Ysidro, California, on Sunday, Chris Cabrera of the National Border Patrol Council offered a simple solution for reducing the number of migrant caravan members who are fraudulently seeking asylum.

President Donald Trump noted that some of the migrants continued waving the flags of their home countries even while trying to enter the United States, and said numerous migrants are "stone-cold criminals".

"We can't have all these people here", Mujica told The Associated Press. Doctors released them to the custody of U.S. Border Patrol agents, officials reported.

He said officials were receiving more requests from migrants wanting to return to their countries, but did not have a number. More police carrying plastic riot shields were on the other side, but migrants walked along the river to an area where only an earthen levee and concertina wire separated them from U.S. Border Patrol agents.

Francisco Vega, the governor of Baja California, said nearly 9,000 migrants were in the state - mainly in Tijuana, with a lesser number in Mexicali - and called it "an issue of national security".

U.S. President Donald Trump took to Twitter Sunday to express his displeasure with the caravans in Mexico. Vega issued a public appeal to Mexico's federal government to take over responsibility for sheltering the migrants and deport any who break the law. Sarmiento said she had been near the bottom of the Tijuana River when USA agents fired tear gas. "Congress, fund the WALL!" the president tweeted on Monday morning. During his presidential campaign, he promised he'd have Mexico pay for a wall. It said that 1,906 of those who have returned were members of the recent caravans.

After the unrest Mexico on Monday deported 98 Central Americans, following their arrest.
