Six opposition parties push for contempt proceedings against the Government

G20 leaders summit in Buenos Aires

With several lawmakers doubling down on their criticism of the deal, the opposition Labour Party also said that it and other parties had written to parliament's speaker asking him to consider launching contempt proceedings against May's government for failing to release the full legal advice.

Opposition parties, the small Northern Irish party that props up May's government as well as many politicians in her own Conservative Party have said they would vote against the deal on December 11.

A cross-party group of MPs on Thursday laid down an amendment to May's European Union withdrawal legislation in a bid to stop a no-deal Brexit emerging as the default fallback option.

The UK faces making additional payments to Brussels if the Brexit implementation period is extended, the Government's Brexit legal advice also said.

"Then I certainly think I will not be voting for it".

The Devon MP went on: "I ask the House to understand that it is only that consideration that is motivating me and this Government in declining at this stage to break the convention that applies to both sides of the House when they are in government".

The likelihood of rejection could increase Monday if Labour is successful in forcing May to reveal the full legal advice she sought before agreeing the deal with European leaders last month.

Mrs May told This Morning: "I'm keen to have a head-to-head with Jeremy Corbyn, I hope this actually goes through".

Bush's service dog will go on to help other soldiers
On Monday, President Trump tweeted , "Looking forward to being with the Bush Family to pay my respects to President George H.W. The former president's body will arrive in Washington, D.C., today to lie in state in the U.S.

Earlier on Monday, the government published a 43-page summary document saying the deal meant Britain could be locked into a full customs union with the EU to prevent a hard border on the island of Ireland unless a new trade accord is signed.

May's opponents argue that Britain can renegotiate the deal for better terms.

"Also, I would like to once again ask for your support to avoid no deal as well as to ensure transparency, predictability as well as legal stability in the Brexit process", he added, speaking through a translator.

Both leaders said they looked forward to working more closely together on trade in the future, including the possibility of Britain joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

"When the Government loses a vote it must follow the will of this House under a humble address according to all precedent", Mr Rees-Mogg said.

"Once we leave the European Union, we can and we will strike ambitious trade deals", May will tell parliament, according to excerpts of her speech.

Just eight days before the big vote on the deal, Cox sparked anger when he published only a "legal position" on Monday, rather than the "full legal advice" insisted on by the House of Commons last month.

"That an humble Address be presented to Her Majesty, that she will be graciously pleased to give directions that the following papers be laid before Parliament: any legal advice in full, including that provided by the Attorney General, on the proposed withdrawal agreement on the terms of the UK's departure from the European Union including the Northern Ireland backstop and framework for a future relationship between the United Kingdom and the European Union".
