Government found in contempt of Parliament in historic vote

Британия имеет право остановить Brexit без согласия ЕС

In a landmark vote on Tuesday, parliamentarians in the lower chamber House of Commons backed a motion, tabled a day before by six parties, demanding full disclosure of the counsel by 311 votes to 293.

Leadsom swiftly responded to the defeat by promising to publish the legal advice "in full" on Wednesday.

In an address to parliament on Monday, Attorney General Geoffrey Cox claimed publishing the full extent of legal advice he provided the government over the deal would be "contrary to the public interest".

Backbench MPs led by Dominic Grieve are hoping to seize control of what happens in the crucial days after Theresa May's Brexit deal is voted on, by defeating the government in parliament on Tuesday.

The parliamentary showdown delayed for several hours the start of debate on the Brexit deal.

The beleaguered leader made her sunny prediction while facing another Brexit-related headache - opposition lawmakers seeking to force May's government to publish legal advice it received about Britain's departure from the European Union.

On Tuesday, representatives from the Labour party, the Liberal Democratic party, the SNP, the DUP, the Green party and the Welsh Plaid Cymru party has written a joint letter to the speaker of the House of Commons calling for action to be taken against the government.

Prime Minister Theresa May speaks in the House of Commons.

Advocate General Manuel Campos Sanchez-Bordona told the European Court of Justice that EU law "allows the unilateral revocation of the notification of the intention to withdraw from the EU".

Saudi prince gets chummy, stern receptions at G-20 summit
At G20, the Prince seemed to be isolated from the rest of the global community until Putin stepped in with a show of support. The two politicians, seen in the above GIF, exchanged the hand gesture after Putin noticed the Saudi prince sitting alone.

Yet the text's full publication is unlikely to impact a Brexit deal vote that faces resistance from all sides of a bickering House of Commons.

Mrs May will say that to respect the 2016 referendum result would require "a Brexit that takes back control of our borders, laws and money" and "a Brexit that sets ourselves on course for a better future outside the European Union, as a globally trading nation, in charge of our own destiny and seizing the opportunities of trade with some of the fastest-growing and most dynamic economies across the world".

"This is the deal that delivers for the British people". Labour sources say it would be an extraordinary moment for the Prime Minister to have moved a motion (later today) only for the motion not to be put.

MPs debated long into the night in the first of five sessions set aside for the Brexit deal, culminating with a vote on Tuesday December 11.

Another critical vote on the Brexit deal is fast approaching.

May's spokesman, James Slack, said the opinion didn't change "the clear position of the government that Article 50 is not going to be revoked".

In practice, it means that should Parliament refuse to accept the prime minister's deal, MPs could instruct her to extend negotiations, hold another referendum, or pursue a different sort of Brexit like a softer, Norway-style exit.

"I never said this deal was ideal, it was never going to be". May and her government objected to this ruling, saying that it was pointless because they planned to go through with Brexit.
